A group of ten convicted of online harassment directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of disseminating false claims regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A persistent conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the first lady's biological sex.
Their lawsuit states that Owens ignored all credible evidence disproving her claim in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.
The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
