19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks the player's first title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after spring of that year.
The win also signifies he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children together, so to win a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
His counter-punching play style and regular reactions on court had led some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.
However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an better service.
The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to create a third set.
Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, he earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
